Ballast

In cannabis cultivation, a ballast is an essential component of HID lighting systems (such as HPS or MH lamps). It controls the voltage and current needed to ignite and maintain the light safely, preventing flickering or overheating. Older magnetic ballasts are being replaced by electronic ballasts, which are more energy-efficient, produce less heat, and often allow adjustable wattage output for flexible lighting control.
