Sexing

Cannabis is a dioecious species, meaning individual plants typically produce either male or female flowers. Sexing is essential for growers since females produce resinous buds while males produce pollen. Early identification, usually by examining pre-flowers at nodes, allows cultivators to remove or isolate males to prevent unwanted pollination. Hermaphrodites, which form both male and female structures, may also be detected during this process.
