Grow Room Ac inifinity fans - is a 6" quieter than a 4"

Hey all ,
I would like extraction to be a quiet as possible. Am I correct in thinking that a 6 inch fan running at a low setting will be quieter than a 4 inch at the same LPM?

Most of the noise comes from the speed of the air travelling thru the hose/pipe. And the flex hose we use is notorious for noise because of the accordion construction. You should see a reduction in noise by stepping up to 6" running at a lower speed than the 4".

I just got the 6in this week and it's much quieter than my 4. Only have to run it real low to suck the walls in, where the 4 needs to run at like 70-80%

Yes a dramatic difference. It was reccomended by my tent manufacturer to run a 6" fan but the tent kit comes with a 4in fan because its ratings can handle the volume easily and is cheaper and takes up less space. I run a 3x3 tent and with a 6 inch exhaust and a packed tent I never have to go above 70% power and I only hear it because my fan is outside my tent while the filter remains inside. When everything was inside the tent I only heard it in my basement if it was dead quiet inside my house. As soon as my tv got turned on I couldnt hear it anymore. You could even go as far as running an 8in fan, most small tents have 1 8in ventilation port, on a small tent you probably would never have to go above 30% power, it might start getting hard to keep rh and temps in a good range though unless the lung room is managed well

I appreciate the replies guys. Such a great community here. Im going to take on the advice of those that recommend a 6inch fan. As id be running it at one of the lowest speeds is there any issue with me using a ducting reducer and re purposing my existing 4 inch rhino filter ? I know if i were running the 6 inch to its max then the filter would be over saturated quickly but as it'll just be on trickle does the fan filter size really mater?
