Are hollow stems normal?

Hello ppl. Thanks for looking. So I went for the chop and noticed that they were hollow. Walls were thick, but had a hole in the middle? Do they work like pipework, carrying water through plant?

Yes some strains of cannabis do have hollow stem's and some have hollow stock's. Hollow stock's can be normally found on the upper parts and new growth.
