Bag drying question

I chopped my plants and hung them yesterday. Humidity around 60%. Tomorrow, I’m leaving for a weeks vacation. My plan was to leave the buds in paper bags. Is two days of air dry followed by seven in paper bags a good plan? I don’t have anyone to check on them or shake the bags etc.

A general rule of thumb for air dry is usually "1 Day + 1 Day for every 10% of humidity in the drying room".

That rule of thumb is usually also used for bag drying, although bag drying may be a bit slower.

If you have room in your fridge, you can put the bags in there while you're away. That should take a bit longer than bag drying in the open air.

I think in the circumstances this will be your best cause of action much better in the bags for any length of time as I know people often start there cure with a couple of days in the bags

I have followed the bag method with great success. Maybe only takes upto 5 days though when they are cut down to just the bud. Would maybe leaving a little more branch on them help it take about 7? Just a thought, never done it.

I like to hang mine for a few days then into a grocery paper bag with full stems. It certainly takes a couple of days longer than when they be trimmed smaller! I’ve also hung them in a cardboard box with the top closed up, couple smallish holes at the top and bottom to promote air flow. Works like the paper bag method in terms of how long it takes. If the buds are crispy when you get back, store them with the stems still attached (cut to manageable sizeof course). A couple of days later, the buds should have drawn the remaining moisture from the stems and be a little less crispy. A Boveda 62% for a week in the jar can help as well.

Back from my vacation. The buds were perfectly dried after a week in the paper bags. Stems snapped ,not overly crispy. Straight into the jars for burping.
