Seems awfully wasteful tossing all that water -- and the water in my dehumidifier is less than 30 ppm. Any reason this water can't recycled (assuming you don't have an old rusty dehumidifier of course)?

I used it last year with mine and it was fine. I believe that is considered distilled water but I could be wrong (just ask my wife).

Well I was wrong lol, it is not distilled water. (stinking google)

I was advised not to use it since the condenser coils inside can be particularly dirty or made of metals that may contaminate the water with things you do not want to ingest. Heavy metals etc... Whatever you put in your plant has the potential to end up inside you.

Do you really trust the Chinese made components not to have lead in the solder? (Not knocking China just, eh, cheap parts cheap methods)

RO would be preferable.
