I don't think it makes any difference.
Got some aluminium squares from work. So will shape them sand give them shine so will look the part. Lol.

You do not want metal (except good stainless steel) to come in contact with your nutrients - period. If condensation drips from a metal cover into the reservoir you will end up with metal toxicity and kill the plants
