So I've been growing for a few years now. I always used spring water and it seemed to be straight forward. The waters natural ph was 6.8 and 50ppms. When I added 1/4 strength AN ph perfect it would drop ph to 6.3-6.5. That was that. Now I'm starting to run more plants and I'm trying to save money by using RO. I usually run a feed water water feed schedule. The issue I had on my last grow using R/o was getting the Ph right. If I want to give plain water the RO is 5.8-6.0. Which is lower than I like it to be. If I add a little calmag 50-100ppms. At first it will be 6.5-6.8. But after it sits awhile it will jump to 8.0. Then I have to use ph down to get it where I want it. On feed days I got it figured out I think. 50-100ppms of calmag to buffer then 1/4 strength dose of AN and the ph is right where I want it. I guess my question is for plain water days. Do I give straight RO water even though the ph is lower than wanted. I assume since the ph of RO is unstable it will change to the ph of the soil and not have any negative issues? Or do I use the calmag then ph down to where I want it?
