I will be using (16) 2 gallon containers for this grow in my tent. Have thought about WOS NLxBB Ryder. Just would like to know others experience and see what strains worked well for you guys. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

9 in 1 gal in a 4x4. This run is for seed, otherwise I run 3 gallon bags.

4 large strains in 3 gallon bags same 4x4.

Me thinks unless your planning on lollipoping, your #s are too high.

I've grown WOS NLxBB.
It got huge and yielded about 1 lb dry.
The name is accurate, because the buds were huge
At first, it had 1/4 of a 3 ft x 3 ft tent, but it matured slowly, and eventually took over the whole tent.
It's a nice strain, but not one of my favorites.

Mephisto has a few strains that are SOG friendly but SOG isn't a method for autoflowers. 0-2 weeks vegging then straight to 12/12 with genetic uniformity, no training, and 4+ plants per square foot make a winning formula.

Why do you want to do A SOG? It's more expensive than a clone only SOG and uniformity will be lacking with various phenos from seed to seed. Maybe if you were to restrict your pot size it might help.

But growing 4 large autos vs 16 smaller autos will be the same amount of time and more complicated for the latter. Are you looking for yield, turnaround, quality?

So what would be the correct way to state this type of grow...? To me this most closely resembled a SOG in uniformity. I want to fill my tent with as many as I can to get the best possible yield for the space I'm using.

A traditional SOG is done because it requires 0-2 weeks of veg then flower compared to growing larger photos to fill a space taking longer. You're growing autos right? You can choose larger strains, as @Simplico stated the strain your choosing can get large.

I don't see the benefit to sogging autos when they don't hold the benefits of clones. You can do it however you want but autos won't hold the uniformity of clones, might require extra training and or pruning. It won't improve your time to harvest, lessen resources, or necessarily improve your yield.

Fill your tent with 4-6 large autos that finish in 8-10 weeks. That's 6 harvest a year. A SOG. with clones is the same amount for the time but uses more resources and a higher plant density. Autos are beneficial when you don't have a second space and can save resources but 16 plants vs. 4 plants seems like a negligible difference.

I'm not trying to tell you how to grow. Good luck man

This has to be the best answer I have ever seen in numerous years regarding ye olde number of plants in tent question.

Can you give a brief description of your different yields in these setups? I assume using same lighting in each picture round which makes it nicely irrelevant for my question?

Are those 3 girls in 3gals the NCH from Mephisto? Did you train them in anyway?

Strain dependent, but out of 16 square feet under 450w of DIY COBs, I expect between 600 and 900 grams dried per run.

The full tent picture was from last spring. I was one of the growers running the mephisto prerelease sativas. Those are them. Coulda filled the tent with one Hubbabubba Haze I think... at least 3x3. Hazes tend to not be real small plants.

The NCH I ran at the same time. She ended up close to covering around a 2x4 area. Training I don't do a lot more than some lst and undercarriage cleaning anymore.

Many breeders will give an expected yield per sq meter, and a plant count. And many strains can be small yielder... Girl Scout cookies didn't get its name cause it smells like thin mints... it's due to the average size of the nugs. A higher plant count is needed to make the same weight.

There are many variables at play, including your environment and grow level.

If your concerned about filling, start 1 or 2 additional, with the intent to cull or move outside if space gets tight.

New auto growers may have a round or two that are small compared to other grows seen, it's that first few weeks that make the difference. Smooth starts is the secret to large autos.

This will be a bit of a learning curve but fun none the less. I changed it up and grew 3 plants instead for my first run in 4 gal fabric pots. 1 Green Poison XL Auto, 1 Dinafem Critical Jack Auto, and 1 Sweet Cheese Auto.
