I thought I’d share this , not as science, bro or otherwise, but rather to give new growers some ideas and to share my experience. Basically, I top at the fifth node, remove the first node, tie the six remaining branches down. After the plant grows out a bit, I defoliate. These pictures show the initial results. I almost double the number of tops that see the light! Does this actually produce more quantity? Well, that’s another discussion. It does allow me to grow low profile plants in my 2x2 with lots of colas. Happy growing!

Oh yes, I have been topping autos for over 8 years. I used to use all of the bondage :naughtystep:and other LST but I am just too lazy for all of that I just top above the 4th node and let them grow. I generally average just over 5 oz a plant depending on genetics.

I learned to top Autos from @Autobeast when we were on another forum. He really was one of the pioneers of topping and he has a great thread here:
