What is this? Never seen anything like it before

These string-like things are about 3-4in long and growing straight out of a lower budsite. Strong like rope and don't seem to want to go anywhere when I tug on them. (I know it's got issues, got some help from MOG, and it seems to be doing better and worse at the same time). Toofless alien, Coco

Hmmm I wonder if you've pulled leaves from a spot above sometimes when you take off leaves and pull on it it leaves a string like that from pulling and part of the stem coming with it

That was my thought too but I'm really only plucking them off as they die. They don't start from anywhere that looks "peeled"
