I have three photos going 4 weeks from germ, and and want to add 3 more new plants on the other side of the same room to share filter fan humidifiers etc. using a 18/6 light schedule. should I put 3 autos in and just run all the lights at 20/4? what happens. is it best to just keep that room to photoperiod plants?

Your autos will do fine alongside the photos....I've grown autos on 12/12 for 15 years, always with a photo alongside. Yeild may be reduced a bit but not as much as your elec bill.
what is the ideal light schedule for photos or autos in your opinion?

For photos, it is whatever they need to get on with flowering. The standard assumption is 12/12, but some photos can handle slightly shorter dark periods and still get the job done.

12/12 for autos will as pointed out earlier reduce yield a bit, but the plants will be healthy. There is lots of argument about ideal daylength for autos, but anything between 18/6 to 24/0 can work fine. Personally, I will be going with something ~18/6-20/4 with my current grow. With my grow last winter I did 24/0 in order to keep the temps stable, but I now do that with a thermostatically controlled heater.

At any rate, with your current setup, I would not hesitate to throw some autos into the mix.
