You mean your buying auto packs that are giving photo plants instead of autoing? If thats the case they havent gone far enough to get 100% auto genes.

I mean the OP's question is basically the entire premise for this website. I grow exclusively autos, but I will sometimes breed with Photo's because there is still a HUGE amount of genetic diversity in the photos that hasn't trickled down yet.
The thing is, I've never seen a ruderalis in person, all of the auto's we are dealing with today are numerous generations of cross's, back-crosses, and inbreeding removed from the ruderalis of 6-8 years ago. I'd be willing to wager that not a single one of the predominate known breeders is growing rudys for their breeding programs. There just isn't any reason to, the only thing that rudy had to offer was the autoflowering trait and that has now become common and easy to acquire from modern autos.
Autoflowering cannabis is the future of all cannabis. Mark my words, in 10 years 90% of all cannabis grown will be autos. They are easier to grow and care for, they are faster, and with modern techniques they yield just as well per/unit time. I remember my dad waiting 7-8 months the harvest old school mexican sativa trees in the 80s and then getting wiped out by an early frost in October. Now he's 70 and all he grows are autos right out between the tomatoes and the peppers. We wouldn't tolerate waiting months for photoperiod vegetables and in the future we wont tolerate waiting months for photoperiod ganga either.
Every day another of the great old legacy strains gets converted to autoflowering and another old school grower gets converted to growing the easy way - with autos.

Not that there is anything wrong with growing photos, there are till some awesome photoperiod strains out there. Watching @912GreenSkell grow some huge ass trees has reminded me of the power of old school sativa's grown in the sun.
From my understanding there will always be 2-3 phenos no matter how many generations u go photo or auto. Mephisto is doing a pretty good job and have many strains beyond f4 some to f7. At that point I believe it’s best to bx it back to the original photo or better and work it back to auto that would introduce more of the photo trait but stabilize it as an auto again with the photo traits I want. This is what I am interested in doing for fun and to take my favorites so I can keep them around.

There is power in monster photos without a doubt. There is in autos too. But, we should never forget where the autos come from, its a symbiotic relationship between autos and photos. Without exceptional photoperiod genetics to create autos from, it would be a non-existent relationship. Prime quality photos are the stepping stone to having exceptional quality autoflowering plants.
Yes that’s why I am going to dabble in photo to photo breeding to start. Then I am gonna do auto to auto then photo to auto. Try to make my own creation. Just for fun. If I live long enough maybe two creations. Daytime and a nighttime. The rest I’ll have to buy others genetics.
