I was having heat probs as well until some seasonal Fall temps finally hit. I keep the house at 76F or less, and at the max 76F I have to remove a couple of cfls or my cab is running mid-to-low 80's. Hopefully you will catch a break too!
If you feel comfortable experimenting a bit, I've found that an epsom salt foliar misting can reduce the effects of heat stress. I put about 1 tspn per Liter in hot water out of my RO, dissolve, then spray pretty liberally, starting on the undersides of the leaves.

Cheers L&S that's a handy tip
I've got the heat under control a bit now and managed to get my girls about 15 inches from the light. In hindsight when I noticed the heat i really should have switched to my blue 125w cfl to start them off or at least until the conditions were sorted. Judging by the current size of them I've probably lost a few days to a week of early growth just by not getting the conditions and light height right.
It's all good now though, i'll see it as a fresh start and (hopefully) put those troubles behind me
