I caught a couple of this on stickies. They like to buzz the sides of my cloth bags, no doubt sipping my water.

No leaf damage yet, but I'd like to find out if these are a concern.

I've read gnats like wet ground. would covering most of the soil with sterile stones or marbles help?

You can always put a layer of diatomaceous earth on top of your soil to help with the gnats.

Water through with mosquito bits and sticky traps on top of medium and they'll be gone in like 2 weeks...
