I struggled a lot with my first grow. The super soil mix in stuff just didn't work for me. This is my game plan.

Coco loco medium
Straight water first 2 week, won't need much
15 days to flower. Mega crop every third watering.
Flower to harvest bud explosion. Every third watering.

Should I plan on needing cal mag? When should I start it?
Any suggestions of things I might have missed?

Looks like Mega Crop has Ca in it, and Coco loco is a soil with coco in it so you don’t need the Cal/mag unless you show deficiency. That is if you have the 2019 formula of MC. pH to 6.5 and you’ll be okay. Treat it as soil.
