First post here. Really appreciate all the knowledge y’all share. It’s been extremely helpful on my first grow.
basic rundown of my situation:
6x GSCX auto from ILGM in a mix of happy frog, peat moss, pearlite, and vermiculite in 3 gal fabric pots.
3.5 ft X 7 ft room
2x 600w bloomspect B600’s
Using
trio + calmag plus
fed em twice consecutively (Big bloom, grow big, calmag plus) so far at 1/4 strength. LST started about a week ago. Using GH drops to ph balance. Temps been around 75 and humidity around 52%. I THINK I’m doing everything right (according to my research) and I THINK my plants are doing well. But it’s my first grow so don’t have experience to compare it to. Now to my question...
I placed diffusion paper over both lights. I work in film/photography and know diffusing light distributes it more evenly in a space and softens shadows. I did some research and found that diffusing light on plants can help against light burn and also help light get to deeper parts of the plant since it’s spreading through the space more evenly. BUT it also reduces the intensity of the light by an amount that I don’t know (Guessing by about 30%). My lights are 18 inches away from the plants at the moment. According to the manufacturers info on the light this would put me at 350 PAR if there weren’t diffusion so the PAR amount is less than that since I have the light diffused right now. Do I keep testing the theory of diffused light and move the lights a lot closer as they get older (losing some of the spread in the process), or does someone have experience that says I should kill the diffusion and blast em with the hard stuff?
