That's not bud rot... Northern lights is known for turning purple.. Those "purple things" are the calyx were seeds grow. The plant is definitely over fed and was stunted at some point in life, but it's not bud rot. I can barely see any usable flower on the plant. Once a plant is pollinated, it stops focusing on making buds, and focuses solely on making seeds. Looks like this plant was pollinated super early and never got around to making bud sets.
I hope you are correct. Pictures are hard to tell for sure. Pull on some of the yellow leaves if they just come off the plant easily it is bud rot. If they pull the stem with it and don't come off then probably just coloring.

Yeah no worries all the leaves firmly attached but as mentioned there isn't any"flower"so not sure what to do with it now
