New Grower Finally after 5 year of waiting, decided it's time for a new Grow.

I just pack the soil down for a inch or two then loose fill the rest with my soil. After it's wet and roots you won't have anything fall out .
But on the other hand, having compacted soil at the bottom, the wettest area of the medium/soil, does not seem optimal. If I were compacting to prevent soil/medium loss, I'd add a good percentage of perlite.
