New Grower First grow, outdoor GCS Critical Purple Cold Weather

I’ve been reading about using bioaccumulators as mulch, ie comfrey leaves for their silica, etc. I decided to experiment a little, the smaller plant got comfrey, yarrow, burdock, peppermint, thyme, plantain, and another herb I can’t remember, all cut roughly and used as mulch. I also planted some clover in the pot of the larger plant, after taking this pic :)
Anyone else have any experience mulching like this?

Good start - not much experience with that combination but should be fine - plant will take what it needs .....

Wanna watch putting green matter as mulch - it could take nutrients from soil as it breaks down ???

I usually use straw and compost myself!

Came out this morning and the green mulch was buzzing with gnats. I thought the mint and thyme would help deter, but I guess not. Oh well, lesson learned. Mulch removed, may try doing teas instead.
Thanks as well for the input @MrOldBoy, if you ever have any other suggestions to try I’m all ears.

Sounds like my 3 month old living organic soil bins I’m trying to cook. In my case most likely I need more turnover and fresh air circulation in the product, I really like the idea of cover crop though and hope to try that next year with this LOS after it cooks for another 9 months.

Enjoying your adventures

So I’d really like to have an indoor grow through the winter, just 1 or 2 plants. Thinking of trying to find a smaller tent, like 2 feet deep and 4 feet wide. Does anyone have any input or suggestions? I don’t have a lot of money, the kids keep eating all of it :). Looking for any equipment recommendations or general advice.
Thanks guys

Harvested the main cola of ss2 today, she looks niiiice. Wet trimmed, planning on hanging for 2 days and then into a paper bag. I’m guessing it’s only about 1/4 oz, max, but she is beautiful. I left the rest of the plant out to Amber up more.
