Thats a good article on VPD. This really caught my attention:

1. Nutrient intake at the roots
   • As VPD increases, and transpiration increases, the roots pull in more nutrients. The plant is like one connected system of plumbing!

What I gather from the article is temp/humidity are important in the uptake of nutrients from roots and absorption of CO2.

Exactly, humidity is SUPER important. If there is too little humidity the plant closes its stomata (basically pores or windows on the underside of the leaf) because it is thinking drought conditions from what I have read. Too much humidity and they can also close or the plant can't transpirate and move water. If you've ever been somewhere really really humid you know what I mean, even if you sweat it doesn't evaporate.

There is a window of humidity but VPD tries to calculate the optimal balance to keep the stomata open the widest.

Thank you. I happen to have one from Milwaukee already, a 10:1. What surfaces should I be testing to get the most accurate results? I also have two thermometer/HR gauges at different heights inside.

I believe I have over watered one of my plants. Can anyone confirm. I swear right after I post this I’m gonna make up a folder of example pics of sick plants for reference.

Also, how can I keep my soil from drying out so fast? Or is it normal for the top soil to be very dry and kinda be blown around over time? I tend to spray down the soil a lot because of this starting around the edges said even sides of pot. Light is 18-21” from tops of tallest and shortest plants so 23” roughly from soil. Idk guys I’m freaking exhausted.

@MarshydroTina hey could you tell me what kind of light this is in the pic attached? I have two and am considering swapping out what’s in my tent now for these as I assume it’s going to have more coverage, but if not sure of the specifics. Much appreciated.

So I think I’ve been PHing my water too low. I collected a couple gallons of rain water that was 6.5 ph. I forgot to check the PPM but I have a little left and will later.

Still struggling to identify exactly what’s wrong with my plants. I guess I will make a new post in the infirmary. I had been giving them water around 5.8 and 300 PPM. But I’ve read that the soil in using, OF, doesn’t really need to be PHed because it has buffers. So either way I’m curious to see how they react to the last watering.

Alrighty so things have been up and down here with my WW autos and single GSC. I’ve been collecting rain water for almost two weeks as it has been almost non stop here.
They were last watered a little last night, about a liter each of rain water.

Ph- 6.2
Ppm-18
Us/cm-38
C/F- 24.4/ 75.9 degrees

I am about to add a layer of rocks on top of the soil because it has been drying out very quickly.
Last time they were given nutes( GH Flora and Botanicare CalMag Plus) 1/2 recommend dose was March 7th. Ph was 5.3 and gave them 750 ml of the nutrients solution.

Yeah on the 19th I started with rain water and before they tap or distilled. Tap sat out for 2-4 days I would ph to high 5 low 6. Ppm 330-450.

The environment has been all over the place unfortunately but I’m ordering a dehumidifier today because I can’t keep it low now. And I’m doing 20/4 so when the light goes off it drops from mid 80s to mid 70s sometimes but the humidity stays high 50s low 60s and correct me if I’m wrong but that’s not good.

I try and collect as much data as I can and plan on getting a bluelabs soil probe soon as well because fuck it. If it’s worth doing it’s worth doing right.
