After soaking seeds for 24 hours, I always place between paper towels and keep in a small Tupperware container. I even put an extra layer of paper towel at the bottom, just in case it wants to dry out!

3 feet is fine until you see stretch! Also, a clear plastic cup, (or something similar), turned upside down acts as a great humidity dome before and after sprouting, (until seedling is a few days old!).
with so many led lights available out there to choose from,finding the ideal starting height can take a couple of grows,rarely less than 50cms more like 75cm ish.

Hi @Nicky Kinicki and welcome! Sorry that you had a rough start with the seeds. As long as you keep em moist enough they should be OK, you have some good genetics on your hands so they should be golden. As @Need4Weed says, make sure to keep a dome of some sort over them now and for a few days after they pop. Looking forward to seeing how they come along.
