I'm converting a steel rack that I used to use for aquariums into a grow area.
Once enclosed with mylar, I should have a space about 6ft(L)x28in(D)x6ft(T), my goal for this area is to produce 4-5oz a month.
I have a black thumb, I tend to kill any flora I touch.
My final price tag looks like $300 worth of nutrients, soil, fans, mylar, etc
And another $300 worth of LED fixtures.
Before I order I wanted to share some of the things I intend to get to see if anything needs to be changed or removed.
Soil;
1/2 Mother Earth Coco plus Perlite mix
1/2 Mother Earth Coco bale + extra perlite
Nutrients/Control;
Botanicare Cal-Mag plus
General Hydroponics Flora grow, bloom and Micro combo
General Hydroponics pH control kit
Organic Laboratories Organocide 3-1
Extras;
Seed starter tray
Vivosun mylar film
Acurite Thermometer/Hygrometer
pH Meter
8in fan
2x Large jars
Lighting;
2x Mars Hydro sp 150
2x Par38 36w red spectrum grow light
2x Par38 22w 3000k Flood LED (par38's for gaps)
It doesn't seem like alot, but the $600 price tag does.
The par38's I already own, they have a good spectrum (3000k) and have been growning macro algae for afew years, I plan to use them inbetween the main fixtures, to fill in any gaps. Their spread is good and should be fairly uniform if hung high enough.
I'm debating on if I need a humidifier, I have a 120g fish tank, and generally have to run a DE-humidifier to keep my house from sitting around 70-80% humidity.
I also need to choose some kind of air purifier to leave in the room to deal with smell.
So, do I really need all this stuff? or is there anything that I am missing?

and do ya really need all the other-? well, fyi, growing is addictive, lol
meaning, u might as well have all that stuff now, cuz u'll end up acquiring all o' that, and more, sooner or later anyway, so...
