You can always microwave your soil and that will killl any bugs in it before you start growing,

Seriously? Does that work? Does the soil have to have water in it to work or can it be dried out?

I'm not positive but nuking thesoil might kill all the micro organisms.I would get some neem oil and drench your pots with it.
