I'm growing my 1st Auto's in a soil mix under a 600 watt LED. 1 - White Widow & 1 - Wipeout Express. I planted the seeds directly in the soil mix (5-gal. bags) on 12-11. Not seeing anything as of yet so I'm wondering how long till I see them sprout ? I've always planted my photo period plants this way & had sprouts in about 5 days.

Sprout time for autos is generally the same as photos, popping of seeds is not any quicker with autos. The real only differences u'll find with autos is when they go into flower (obviously [emoji13]) and possibly the final size.

Thanks guys. Always a lot of questions the 1st time doing something. Especially when you're not sure what to expect. The info I got with the seeds says 49 - 55 days from seed to harvest for White Widow & 8 weeks for Wipeout Express. Just seems like a week is a long time in the ground if they really finish that fast ... LOL. I guess I should just sit back & enjoy the ride. I print out all the seed info when I purchase seeds so I know what it's crossed with, what % indica & sativa it is & the % of THC content along with seed to harvest info. Figured it would be good to have a folder with the info & keep my own records of how I liked it, yield & stuff like that in the folder with it. I guess I'm sort of doing a grow journal. I also keep a tablet with days I water, feed, top, etc. By time I finish my 1st Auto grow I should have some decent info & knowledge on them.
On another note .... I was talking to someone on another website about photo period plants. They say if you top at the 4th node you get 4 tops. If you top at the 3rd node it confuses the plant like fimming it & it eventually grows 5 tops. If you top at the 1st or 2nd node you get 2 tops. I've never really paid attention to how many tops I got. I just topped & got what I got. So I'm wondering if there's any truth to this. I kind of believe her as she has posts on that website dating back to 2003 & seems pretty knowledgeable on most things.

Doesn't matter which node u top at, it will produce 2 tops from that point. If u top those 2 new growths, u'll then get 4 tops and so on and so forth. All of that is assuming ur topping from the same original growth (which I'm assuming would be the main stem). It doesn't count "tops" that will almost definitely grow from lower side shoots and further it doesn't count the number of tops u'll ultimately get if u start topping the side shoots that come up. But bottom line, topping any stem will result in 2 new growths from the node directly below where u topped. Hope that makes sense [emoji13]
If u fim, u could get 4 tops from doing it just once but imo, it's a little more unpredictable on how may tops will result. It should be noted that none of ur new tops will be as big a cola as the one main cola if u had just left it to grow, but the combined yield of the 2 new tops should out "yield" just the one cola.
