Can a heatmats thermostat probe be buried in the media to keep it the right temperature?

Maybe put it in a sandwich bag to keep the moisture off of it.

It's not a pot but a monotub type thing, I'm spawning substrate in a bag in a tub and worried about temps as the probe is measuring air temperature not substrate temp

Air temp won't be far off from substrate temp. Not dealing with big pots of soil, those bags will adjust to air temp quick

Scratch that found a couple broke ones might be more I just didn’t notice in the first two plants. This was their first grow. Won’t be buying any more if they all break

Yup just cheap 3d printed plastic I'm guessing the plastic didn't hold up to the lights and got brittle found 4-6 total. Not too worried they were only 15$ for a 50 pack I just won't be buying anymore
