Very limited hash experience but it was always on a pin in a cork under a drinking glass on a table hahaa

I started with steak knives with wood handles laid right on the burners on the stove. Let em get red and stick a little "weiner" of hash between, squeeze and inhale the smoke right off the end. Eventually went with a pin through cigarette pack cardboard, light it and blow it out, pyrex measuring cup on top to catch the smoke and suck it out with a bendy straw
