I didn’t cut the tree down after all because closer inspection showed more clear and less amber than I thought. Super close, few more days, but if experience has given me anything it’s patience.

Question…after trimming should I put the shake/trim in the freezer if I want to dry sift it later? I’ve always thrown the trim away so I’m clueless. Not sure if I let it dry a bit first or straight to freezer or no freezer at all.
Just throw it in a large zip-loc, and toss it in the freezer. Dont roll it up, or you'll pull out a frozen log.
