Specifically, AN's cal-mag has an NPK of 2-0-0, which isn't insignificant. Look at some of @2Stoned2Care old threads, i think he had some N toxicity which he solved by switching to some other cal-mag.
I heard it "feeds" the voodoo juice and keeps everything happy and rolling in the pot. You can put in microbes and stuff, but living organisms need to feed on something. But I am a newbie at all this stuff so thinking I might just put in the base nutes and keep this next grow simple. Then if things go wrong I have fewer things to "blame" ha haaaaaaa
I have been thinking...since it is my first real coco grow and I am already nervous...I am going to stick to just AN voodoo juice, cal/mag, grow and bloom. The AN cal/mag is 4-0-0 so it will be ok during grow phase, but I will pick up another cal/mag before bloom. I also noticed the B52 is 2-1-4 so I will leave it out.
Then subsequent grows I can start adding more things. K.I.S.S.!!!
If I was you i would definitely source another brand of cal mag that is lower in nitrogen for flower....I used AN for 2 years and my only complaint was the nitrogen on the Cal mag is too high. I dealt with nitrogen toxicity while falling behind in calcium using AN cal/mag xtra

Hey, been quietly following along your journal. I just purchased my autopot system about a month ago and very gently transplanted a dark devil. Things went well for about a month, though I kept finding a film build up in the res and tray. This was caused by using a organic cal mag. This in turn as u can guess was the start of lines clogging and the valve stuck open overwatering the plant.Yeah, the steep and rapid learning curve struck, enjoy your journal btw

I know you will handle all that comes your way. Growing is like learning all of the rules to baseball. At first it is a lot rules that you may not use. But stay in the game and you will learn more. KISS is what is needed. Grow with the thrill of seeing the ladies in all phases. I know you can be a real good grower.

I am just not sure which one would be best, going to check around today
Here is a question.....if i use town tap water and good base nutes, do i even NEED cal mag ??

WELCOME and thank you!! Autopots are so new to me, I am always afraid something is being either stuck open or closed!! now that i will be doing coco (which is also brand new to me) I am a little frightened. but I know with my friends here on AFN i can get through anything.
ouch, i have no root control disks for this grow. I notice the coco comes out of the bottom of the pots a little...should I get some ladies nylons or something to put around the bases of the pots? Im afraid when watering the coco will come out and clog lines or cause a mess? I would use landscape fabric, but massachusetts/december/finding landscape fabric dont mix!
Plants cannot and do not take in sugars added to the soil, they have no mechanism to transport molecules that large. They do feed microlife in the soil, IF used sparingly. sugars sold as " bud cany" etc, are total bullshit foisted on unknowing growers. You nutrient company wouldn't lie to you would they???............ only when it makes their piggy bank go Cha Ching.......
Sorry for perpetuating a myth and blowing your thread up, Mom! Had heard this from local growers plus on marketing materials, lol. Thanks for taking me to school guys!
This approach makes a ton of sense. I ordered all the supplementals that Hans used plus the AN Hobby Pack but I'm not sure what half of them are supposed to do and whether they are helping or not. I plan to use them up (what am I going to do, dump them down the drain? Pretty sure that's illegal in MA lol) and then I will not replacing at least half of them.
