Again these are just thoughts from observations I've had. When you grow nom stop for almost 6 yrs you see a lot of stuff. There aren't many autos that are stable. If you get a strain that's down to 1-3 phenos ... As long as it suits your needs you're golden!

And thanks for sharing your thoughts on this point. As we all know, I'm still learning. I enjoy hearing from the much more experienced, I learn well that way.

Its nearly impossible to be self sustainable with feminized gear. Unless you feminize yourself to make more fems...

Long winded point... Its not always the growers fault. To me its more what's been bred and how. If a strain is solid it will grow and produce itself pretty much.

I need to remember that the plant will do what it wants. I think I've got my environment dialed in pretty well (although there is always room for improvement), so I should just let the plants do what they're gonna do.

We just need to go strain hunting for you...

Yes, indeed. I'm starting to look at other seed breeders strains to find what will work for me. I like fastbuds gear because I know the strains (or at least know of them).....but I think it would be beneficial to expand my horizons.

Thats what I'm leaning towards. After I get that DWC bucket out of there I will be all kind soil....now I just have to figure out the optimal pot size. Right now I'm using 3 gal soft pots...not sure if I should give 2 gal a shot..or what. I can legally grow 12 plants in my house.....although I do realize I cannot fit that many in my 4x4 space, I'm just trying to figure out the best configuration...I'm in the process of getting a perpetual thing going....I hope to have 6 plants, all about a month apart. That way I can harvest 2 plants a month (in theory).

Oh no worries man! If my experiences help cut down on the time it takes for you to find the right gear for your needs then that's the most important thing. What I did was just absorb. Absorb everyone's opinions and experiences and figure out what does and doesn't apply to what you need. No two rooms are the same and everyone has different needs. What I can tell you is become an expert of your set up. When you are master of your room them you can grow any strain to it's potential. That potential is on the breeder. You can only do so much as a grower.

Again...another thing I needed to hear. The bulk of my growing experience (which isn't alot) is with photo's....and I remember having to work to keep them a manageable size. Now I'm having to get used to auto's....which thus far have been smallish. I don't mind it...but I have to catch myself every time I think I'm doing something wrong because they aren't bigger. From my travels through this site, it appears that monster plants are an anomaly and not the norm. I need to freakin' tattoo that on my forearm or something, so I can be reminded!

in a 4x4 tent, 3-5 gallon pots are ideal, depending on your lighting. 3 gallon pots can give you some good sized plants with the right strains. In organic soil I can average 3oz per pot, with 4oz often and a few 5oz. I'm talking plant that get nothing but water, no teas, top dressing, no plant manipulation, nothing. they could easily exceed that by 20-30% with some serious Super Soil mixes. With coco you could easily double that. I've got a Shining Silver Haze in a 3.9 gallon auto pots that's going to give up a damned good yield I believe.

OPr plant one, Auto Ultimate in a 20 gallon pot and grow a pound........

That would be ideal! I'm figuring if I can pull at least 2 oz per plant, that I can successfully sustain myself. Anything beyond that is just gravy, and means I'll be able to help out my in-laws. I smoke an average of 4 oz of flower a month, I don't do concentrates (never really tried them) and I make tincture/edibles with the trim.

I like the idea of just water and Kind Soil...easy and cheap. I've read up on coco...but after my not so great attempt at DWC, I'm going to stick with the kind soil for awhile at least.
I need to pick something and just ride that wave into the beach.

Organics done right is as easy as it gets! Get a handle on that kind soil and you'll be good. It can be tricky though. I have a thread on Simple Organic soil you may want to browse. Its what I use to grow everything, including 200 lbs of pumpkin from a 4'x8' raised bed, SHARED with tomatoes and Jalepenos!
