I think I'm out of this one guys. I've been really sick with the flu for the past week and let my geminating seed dry out a few times, I'm not sure she's gonna go now.
I have ran enough of these to tell you the only way roots are not coming out is if you screen the shit out of it. That did not even work for me last year I just trimmed the roots when they poked out every now and then. I think people are just going to far with this your roots are coming out of the cup. As I understood it originally the spirit of the rule is so some one does not just fill the cup with hydroton and shred the cup up and drop it in a DWC and get a normal size plant. Have people take full cup pictures and trim the roots. Let's not over complicate a really cool contest. I think the best part of this is it is on a small scale and people can experiment and try new things that can improve thier skills in the long run.

I'm pretty sure calling a dq on someones roots hanging out of the cup is more playful than it is serious. In pretty sure we are all in the same spirit to where if a root happens to come out which it will we will let it slide unless it starts to become a huge mass. I personally just rub the tip of the root that's coning out on the edge of the drain hole then ill take a pen or something and try to redirect the new growth into the cup.
If you're just using a solo cup and some medium, you shouldn't have to worry to much about trimming roots. Roots air prune. So you may see some root tips sticking out, if you have a bunch big holes in the cup, but those tips are already air pruned if you can see them poking out. They wont grow like wild hairs outside of the cup or anything in a normal situation. People trim because exposed roots are subject to infections, pests and disease ect.
I was reading this friday and decided to do this because I would learn a lot. As I putting the seed in the paper towel my ex called and needed a place to stay for a couple of days. I couldn't post till she left a little while ago. The seed cracked and I have a tail coming out. I'm naming her after my ex, Pita. I can get a app to strip metadata and post pics in the morning. I know I'm late but I still want to play. I don't care if I'm disqualified from winning as long as I can grow with yall and talk a little trash I'm happy if not I understand. So whats up can I play?
Houston, we have a problem... View attachment 853810
Never broke one this young before. My guess - 99% mortality rate. Taped her up for shits and giggles but I fully expect it to be dead within 24 hrs, View attachment 853811 SO I've started to germ another seed. This however puts me sliding in past the deadline and if everybody isn't ok with it, than I'll withdraw
