Hello Waira, the AutoCob equipped with a citizen 1812 which is very similar to the 3590. The cob of choice in these units are 3500k 80 Cri. There is always the option for custom cobs too but this is the winner in both the veg and flower combination.

1812 IS NOT similar to 3590! 10-12% under efficient. Stop promoting like that.

First off we were talking about the color. The 3500k citizen and 3500k Cree are very similar in color. As for the efficiency there is absolutely not a 10-12% efficiency difference between the two. I have personally tested the Cree 3590 in 36v and 3590 in 72v and just about every citizen cob besides the 3618 with my par meter and the difference is so minute it would have been hard for anyone to make that decision. I'm happy you got your shot in though, You have been waiting for this.

BigSm0 am I right in saying that 3500k is a good for colour and efficiently? My osram cobs have 2700k, 4000k and 6000k I have read this is the ideal spectrum so will make the light 100% efficient or over the top or less powerful then just using 3500k? Bit confused by it all! Thanks.

You may be getting efficiency mixed up. When we talk about efficiency we are only talking about the amount of light coming from the source based on the wattage put into it.
Mixing spectrums can be beneficial but where one is good at a specific point it lacks in the back end if you will. An example is 6500k is great for blue but very low in red. 3500k seems to the the best balance for what the plants need. Smaller plants need less light-veg which there is also less blue in 3500k than most others. While they increase in size they start to require or want more red, and the 3500k has a great amount of that as well. So hanging a room full of certain spec cobs can be helpful but at some point in the grow but each cob isn't performing for the plant like we would want throughout.

If you hang a 3000k and a 6500k over a plant and drop a seed the 6500k will be more beneficial in veg as it has more blue. Now the 3000k is still helping but it's not giving the plant exactly what it needs at that time so in a sense it's sort of wasted energy. As the plant grows past veg and starts to flower where it requires more red the 3000k has more of what the plant needs. While the 6500k again still helps it isn't fulfilling the plant to its maximum benefit.

The other disadvantage is the spread of the cobs. While they do a very good job at projecting light down they do lack in spread. Unless the different cobs are very close together only parts of the canopy will be getting more of a specific color.

Ah I see very nicely put...Thanks! Yes the different cobs are clustered together 12 in in each so I presume 4 of each spectrum in each cob.

Happy I could help. I am familiar with your light now and I do like the concept. I can't say much about osram though as I haven't done any grows with them or testing.
