Yeah that is true seen a lot of guys get raided for bs and a lot of made up charges when things first went medical.

Do you feel making your own strains and dealing with just beans is risky too? I see people selling as souvenirs or bird seed not sure if that makes it any safer.

Almost every plant I’ve run has been 4.5-6 ounces in DWC. But I’ve not run any smaller Mephisto yet. I will in the fall and see what happens. I’ve had a Two DP get really big and go 100 plus days, Brooklyn Sunrise and Glueberry both had 1 out of 3 go long and get 8-10 zips. They were huge plants that were 40” around. And honestly I’m not dialed in and running different strains constantly so my numbers are probably shit compared to what’s possible if I got to know a specific plant, I’ve been tuning FB GG4 almost every grow so this next time we shall see where I am with that.

At the end of the day I really like to be able to have room for me and the plants. I just think that is a better environment for everyone. Less breakage from me decking about and more room for them to be natural and open.

That is a real nice harvest! Should be a lot cheaper on the soil and hydro too lol I was thinking man how am I gonna rig 8 buckets in there and would be expensive lol. Well now I have a clearer view on where to go with this looks like I need more space, lights and all the fixens and do less in each tent like you guys are sayin. Does sound a lot better for the plants and everything too.

Makes sense, well maybe someday we can all do it with no risk guess I will just do it for fun and cut costs for now. Def will continue to support all the breeders though that make it possible for others that can't take the risk.

Breeders

Most important part of success for me was to buy the correct lights for the way I wanted to grow from day one.

Second, breeders. With less space than slot of growers have I will only run Dutch Passion, Fast Buds and Mephisto. (Unless I get freebies) I love what a lot of people are doing with a lot of the individual breeders wares and the indie stuff looks insane. But for now I want to eliminate any potential issues that aren’t me. And honestly between those breeders it’s pretty easy to have any variety you could want. I’ve had the best germ rates and most stable genetics from those three. And I’ve soaked up enough here to know who to stay away from. So for now I’ll watch jealously as others master some indie strains or get lucky with others genetics. I’ll just keep it simple, I’m going to reverse a girl and chuck some pollen this summer. But not really breeding anything in particular

I have a few sources for reg auto's that I am going to use a male from to breed a fem, I was thinking grow a few at a time in small pots or cups just to get a male and not waste tent space then take the pollen to use unless anyone thinks a small plant would produce pollen that is not as good genetics wise as a larger?

Hey RivetGrl! Thank you for the help and dam that is a lot of weight is that strain auto or photo? Which would yield more 2 autos or photos in same tent and should I do more than 3 gal pots for 2 plants in that space or wouldn't make a diff? With that much space you think lst or natural would yield more or about the same?

That haze was a photo, I vegged her to long actually which was perfect (needed space in the flower tent) and she took almost 11 weeks just to flower, so really you could probably run autos and get bigger yield in the same time. But I love my photos, and that haze was a blast to grow. I usually don't get big yields so I really am looking forward to seeing what less plants will do for me.

I find LST yields more as I open the lower bud sites to the light. But it take up way more square footage when ya got a wide plant. But, less work if I grow three big plants where I used to have six DWC buckets in that 4X4 tent, way too much, then to four, and now three.

Depending on strain it looks like you can get a huge harvest with autos, I've just been a photo grower for years off and on so I don't have as much experience with the autos. I will be running a Fantasamo Express soon, and a Sweet Seeds Green Poison XL. Interesting to note, the breeder of my Moonshine Haze is the same one Mephisto used for the FE, Rare Dankness. So I'm really looking forward to their genetics in an auto!

I feel like I am blathering and not really helping. Sometimes, it comes down to you keeping growing and seeing what ends up working for you. Have fun, don't overthink it or stress about it. I got one grow buddy local that we pretty much talk growing all the time, so I can chat for hours about it tho Anything horticulture related really.

Your pollen is as good as the genetics you harvest from, I have only chucked pollen once but read up a bit (need to do more research). You want to look for a male with traits that you desire. For many, it's a male with tight internodes, vigorous growing, shows resistance to issues if you get any (temps, disease, insects etc). What you are looking for could very well be different tho. Like maybe you want a more leggy male bred to a very compact female. But vigor and resistance are always on the look for list. I'm still in research mode, but I want to start growing out some males from some of my regular genetics soon.

@RivetGrrl Thank you that makes sense! Do you know if you can pull a plant out of a tent, polinate it and stick it back in a tent with another plant without it polinating the other plant or not a good idea?

@RivetGrrl That is awesome nothing wrong with photos! I want to eventually get some when I have space if anything it makes you a better grower harder to keep a plant alive that long.

I have heard great things about rare dankness, heard bog seeds (Also one Meph uses) and Irie Genetics are great too. This is like the greatest hobby on earth lol but so addicting. Your not talking too much at all I am the same way ask Boognelson lol.

You apply pollen with a small brush in a non fan blown area away. From your other plants. You brush on pollen on a couple bud sites. You then leave it sit for 8-12 hours. Let the "Marvin Gaye" business happen. Then rinse that bud off and put it back in tent.
