I've been thinking about the efficiency drop off after 3500k because they more than likely wont be available from the source i purchase them.
so, would it be better to go 3000k or 4000k, it makes sense in my head to go with 4000k as it would just sneak a bit of veg power in there rather than efficiency dropped 3000k.

Here is some pics of the converted 3 Mars 300s showing how I wired them up and mounted them. I took some pics of the 2 lit up in the tent right now and a pic of the packed away flower light. Im also including a full tent shot from when I corrected ph issues on August 1st and then a shot just now showing how much the tent has blown up in 17 days and a shot of the 1st converted light vs 2 stock Mars 300s. I have been doing 2 waterings to 1 feeding and doing a light mixture of Dyna Gro Grow, B52 and Molasses for a foliage spray and they are loving it. The Deathstar had some bad issues and was damn near dead from lockout and build up but she is really coming along and loving the lights. The Papaya is trying to take over the tent and reaching for the light while staying nice and tight and bushy. The tall girl is Tangerine Dream it looks funky because it use to be 4' tall but I took and tied it over and wrapped it around on itself.

Nice are they running hot? I did 3 of them but I changed out the heatsink and man do they run cooler .. I am likely changing out all of the fans for more air movement and quieter running

They run cooler than the old Mars 300 by about 10 degrees at least I can put my hand right on the glass and leave it there the air blowing out of the case is cool/warm helped with me tent temperature on hot days big time. And as you can see the plants are loving all of the light I just hope it converts over to big tight buds.

lots of people running 3500k with 4000k fairly close. I think one of Growmau5's lights are 4k.
