What is your favorite soil?

It depends on your tap water...sounds like yours isn't too out of whack but it is hard to speculate; fwiw, my tap water (that doesn't appear to have chromium, based on local water quality reports), is ~8+ I believe, and I air-out ~24-48hrs for chlorine reasons, but I've never owned a PH tester and have no idea what the soil PH is; I currently just use roughly the same amount of down from a dropper per 2 gallons at a time to roughly get in the ~mid 6s PH for the water going in (and re-test by color maybe once or twice a grow in case my tap PH changes for some reason)

I'm also growing in SIPs these days which only hold maybe ~3-3.5 gallons of soil, and I think a straight 5-7 gallon soil pot (if watered effectively, which is a huge if) would be more forgiving

CoM is NOT to hot for auto's, no lite version needed. I bounce back and forth between CoM and HF, I been using more HF due to I just never get gnats with it, but I hear I'm lucky, but I must be real lucky cause i have used it alot.

I use 1/2 Happy Frog and 1/2 Ocean Forest, generous amount of perlite. I don't have to feed till week 4. I use Flora Flex nutrients, easy and reasonable.

I use fox farms Coco-Loco. it is working great. I also use recharge compost tea and a shot of grow dots and use AC Infinity auto pots . No concerns at all.

I started out using Happy Frog, but its not what it was many years ago. It has a much higher amount of wood mulch in it now.

Roots Lush: Great when I can find it, but $40 here.

Stonington Platinum Blend: Also excellent, and $40

ProMix Organic: Decent, needs perlite added. Has some little seeds that will sprout. Only $20, and big box home center has it.

I mix in worm castings, and kitchen compost into everything.

Been using roots organic original four years now.
Very consistent, $42 a bag delivered to door.
I add worm castings, perlite and biochar to it.
