Rant away mate, get it off your chest.
It riles me that the people responsible for this mess get rewarded and the poor suffer. Some democracy we live in,its a joke.
if you start a Stephen king book beware they do take a while to get going try needful things its just such a nutty book and if your going to try reading dean koontz try the odd Thomas books I loved them very quirky and funny and as for game of thrones George martin has already said the writers of the series have enough of the story to finish the show but still would like to read the books also explains so much more than the show like who john snow is have you worked it out yet think I might have just makes sense in my stoned out noggin :smoking:
Books are my wheelhouse. Don't do TV. Red mentioned Wilbur Smith! I have the entire collection...River God is a must read! Wilbur did, however, get a bit elementary in his last 3 books...
Having spent my life in kitchens, Odd Thomas has the best short-order lingo EVER!
Stephen King's 11/22/63 is one of the best 'time travel' novels (kennedy assassination)
Ken follett's 'The Pillars of the earth' is a must read, the sequel, 'World without End' is a fair encore as well.
Anything Michener...
The Drunken Botanist was a natural for me...as "I Am The Drunken Gardener"
Haruki Murakami to weird ya out (The Wind-up bird chronicles)
anything Eric Larsen (especially Thunderstruck...Marconi, Tesla, Edison)

Wile E,
The only thing made clear by Game of Thrones...The sumbitch wanted to make $$. When a whole new cast of characters are introduced after the 2nd thousand pages, ya gotta figure sumpins up...
