Is there a cheap'ish, like sub-$500 smoker a guy could buy to start getting into smoking? I had an electric smoker years back, and honestly loved it (so simple,) but it crapped out over time and I never replaced it. Haven't smoke anything in probably 8+ years.

I don't need anything fancy; just quality enough to produce something my fat ass will eat (the bar is not set very high here, but I'm trying to raise it.)

This is a barrel style, charcoal smoker. It’s pretty much a set it and forget it cooker. You just use charcoal from the store, so you’re not managing a fire. The website and YouTube channel have excellent recipes…step by step.

I like this over a pellet grill, for the simple fact that it will last forever….. there’s no electronics to go out, it’s just a steel barrel.

Also, this is more versatile. You can grill burgers, and steaks….roast the best chicken you’ve ever had….

Damn it's been a minute since I've looked at smokers. These are cheap as shit.

Be careful with cheap offset smokers…. You’ll go through a ton of wood to hold temp on some of the cheaper ones…. Metal thickness matters….

Plus you can make a shitload of food in these, since it hangs vertically. You can fit like twelve racks of ribs in that thing….

If you want an offset…. You’ll want to spend 1500+….. but it will last until your kids sell it to someone else after they inherit it….then it will last them awhile to

You gotta have a 1/4” thick pit for that…. Plus there’s several with insulated fireboxes for that kind of weather….
