When I was a kid, I once ground down a pile of magnesium shavings from a jock strap cup, lit it up, and it pretty much burned all the way through the bench top. Hot shit that.
Add some powdered iron oxide(rust) and a smidgen of powdered aluminum with the magnesium and you really have something then.............
