Tap water v rain water

Its interesting and I never thought much of it.

What if you were to boil the rain water then letting it cool down.

Would that be better than tap water sitting 24hr?

Unless you for some reason need to start with 'sterile' water, need to kill all microbes, etc., why would you boil feed water? Boiling will just increase the concentration of any salts present, as the pure water evaporates. Rain is condensed water vapor, rather pure water - you don't need to do anything to it (other than your usual pH adjustment presumably after mixing in your nutes).
